Vehicle Information
Aprilia Caponord 1000 Motorcycle - Street (2001-2007)
The Aprilia Caponord 1000, produced from 2001 to 2007, is an adventure-touring motorcycle powered by a liquid-cooled, 998cc longitudinal V-twin engine, consistently delivering 98 horsepower. While its core engine remained throughout its production, the model underwent significant developments. A major mid-cycle update, often referred to as a "second generation," was introduced in 2004 for the standard model, incorporating enhancements first seen on the Rally Raid version launched in 2003. The Rally Raid, more off-road focused, featured upgraded Sachs suspension, higher ground clearance, engine protection, and a shorter final drive ratio. The 2004 updates for the standard model included visual changes (fairing, indicators), stiffer suspension, optional ABS (standard from 2006), and ergonomic adjustments. The Rotax V990 engine, though constant in displacement and peak power, received ECU software updates and, from 2002 (for the US market), oxygen sensors and catalytic converters for emissions control. Q: Is this product compatible with my Aprilia Caponord 1000?
A: To ensure compatibility, please use the year and model selector at the top of the page.
Maintenance
| Component | Interval | Details |
| Engine Oil and Oil Filter | 1 000 km (first service), then 7 500 km or 12 months | The first oil and filter change is recommended after 1 000 km. Subsequently, the oil filter should be changed every 7 500 km or at each oil change. Some manuals also suggest 6 000 km or 8 months for oil changes. |
| Spark Plugs | Check every 7 500 km or 8 months; Replace every 15 000 km or 16 months | Uses spark plugs with platinum electrodes. Cleaning with compressed air is recommended. One source mentions possible replacement at 4 000 km. |
| Air Filter | Regular check/cleaning | The owner's manual includes instructions for checking and replacement. Some users clean the air filter every time they change the transmission oil. |
| Coolant | Replace every 4 years | Check the level regularly. Use an ethylene glycol-based coolant without phosphates, silicates, or nitrates. |
| Drive Belt | 20 000 km | Some sources suggest replacing the belt and hub oil at this interval. Dealer replacement is also mentioned at 24 000 km, often with a valve clearance check. |
