Vehicle Information
Ducati Indiana 650 Motorcycle - Street (1987)
The 1987 Ducati Indiana 650 was a cruiser motorcycle, representing Ducati's attempt (under Cagiva ownership) to enter the American market. This model featured a 649 cc air-cooled, four-stroke, 90-degree "L" twin engine with SOHC and desmodromic two valves per cylinder. This modified Ducati Pantah engine, re-tuned for more mid-range torque, delivered a claimed 50.0 HP at 7000 RPM. The 1987 Ducati Indiana 650 itself did not see significant mechanical changes from its 1986 predecessor and was offered as a single model without different trims. However, the 650cc version had a very short production run, being marketed only in 1986 and 1987. In 1987, Ducati introduced a 750cc version, which effectively replaced the 650cc model within the broader Indiana line. This marked a significant engine displacement change for the series, indicating a generational shift for the Indiana family. FAQ:
