Yamaha Virago 920 Motorcycle - Street (1981-1983)
The Yamaha Virago 920 series, produced from 1981 to 1983, offered a unique blend of sport-touring and cruiser styles. Initially launched with the chain-driven XV920R for sport-touring in the US and the 981cc TR1 in Europe, the lineup evolved significantly. All models shared a robust 75-degree V-twin, air-cooled, SOHC engine, providing approximately 65 hp for the 920cc versions. During its short production run, the series saw notable mid-cycle changes. In 1982, the XV920 Virago was introduced, shifting towards a cruiser aesthetic with a shaft drive, double front disc brakes, and an advanced but problematic CYCOM LCD instrument panel. The XV920R was discontinued in the US after this year. By 1983, the unreliable CYCOM panel was replaced with traditional analog gauges, and the distinctive "Midnight Virago" trim was offered. Q: How can I be sure this part fits my Yamaha Virago 920?
A: To ensure perfect compatibility, please use the year and model selector at the top of this page. This will filter parts specifically for your motorcycle's exact configuration.
