Vehicle Information
Polaris Shift 550 Snowmobile (2009-2013)
The Polaris Shift 550, produced from 2009 to 2013, was a popular snowmobile known for its excellent value and straightforward design. It consistently featured a robust 544cc fan-cooled, 2-stroke engine across all model years, reliably delivering over 60 horsepower. This engine type was a hallmark of its performance and ease of maintenance. While the core engine and overall philosophy remained consistent, the 2010 model year brought a notable platform upgrade. This included a lighter, cut-down front-end design, the integration of coupler blocks into the skidframe, and enhanced shock absorbers, specifically a Ryde FX gas shock in the front and a Fox Position Sensitive damper in the rear. Subsequent years, from 2011 to 2013, primarily saw the introduction of various trim levels and options, such as electric start (ES) models, different track lengths (like the 136-inch track), and the LXT variant, rather than fundamental generational shifts in the chassis or powertrain. FAQ:
