Vehicle Information
Yamaha RS Rage 1000 Snowmobile (2005-2007)
The Yamaha RS Rage 1000, a high-performance snowmobile, was produced from 2005 to 2007. It was powered by a consistent 973cc (or 972cc) liquid-cooled, horizontal in-line, DOHC, 4-stroke engine, known as the Genesis 120, delivering approximately 120 horsepower across all model years. The primary model offered was the RS Rage, with an RS Rage GT trim also available in 2007, and potentially as an option package in earlier years. While the engine remained unchanged, the 2006 model year brought significant updates. The 2005 RS Rage featured a ProAction CK Rear Suspension, which was upgraded to a Mono-Shock RA Rear Suspension for 2006. Additionally, O-rings were introduced in 2006 to address and dampen clutch rattle noise reported in some 2005 models. The 2007 model was largely a carryover from 2006, indicating no further major mid-cycle generation or engine changes for that year. FAQ:

Maintenance
| Component | Interval | Details |
| Engine Oil and Oil Filter | 4 000 km or seasonally | Engine oil should be changed every 4 000 km or seasonally, whichever comes first. The oil filter is officially recommended every 19 200 km, but is often replaced with every oil change for better practice. |
| Drive Belt | Regular inspection, replace as needed | Inspect the belt regularly for signs of wear. Replacement intervals vary from 2 400 km (performance) to 3 200-4 000 km (dealer suggestion). Replace at the first sign of wear. |
| Spark Plugs | 4 000 km or annually | Official recommendations suggest replacement every 4 000 km. Many owners choose to replace them annually or at the beginning of each season as a preventative measure. |
| Air Filter | Inspect every 25-50 riding hours | Clean or replace more frequently if the snowmobile is operated in unusually wet or dusty conditions. Replace if the filter remains dirty after cleaning, has cracked seals, or has been exposed to water. |
| Coolant | Annually | Yamaha service manuals recommend changing the coolant at least once a year. Some discussions suggest every 2-3 years or 8 000 km, but annual changes are often preferred. |
