The 1976 Honda MR250 Elsinore was a dedicated enduro motorcycle, marking Honda's entry into the serious off-road market for that year. This 248cc two-stroke, piston-port, single-cylinder machine was designed for competition, delivering 21.8 hp at 7000 rpm. It was a unique, single-year model, specifically tailored for enduro riding. While sharing its displacement and bore/stroke with the CR250M motocross model, the MR250 featured several key differences for enduro use. These included a lower compression ratio (6.9:1 vs 7.2:1), engine porting for a smoother, wider powerband, a heavier mild steel frame, a wide-ratio five-speed transmission, and a larger 3.4-gallon (12.9 L) fuel tank for extended range.
