Vehicle Information
Suzuki Quadracer 500 ATV (1987-1990)
The Suzuki Quadracer 500, famously known as "Quadzilla," was a high-performance sport ATV produced from 1987 to 1990. All models featured a potent liquid-cooled, reed-valve 499.5 cc two-stroke single-cylinder engine, delivering approximately 50 to 70 horsepower. While not offered in modern "trims," each model year (H, J, K, L) brought significant refinements. The initial 1987 model (LT500RH) featured a 7-bolt cylinder head prone to gasket issues, a larger reed cage, and a shorter first gear. Its chassis included bulky A-arms and a "Shack" tower rear suspension. A major evolution occurred in 1988 (LT500RJ), introducing a "second-generation Quadzilla powerplant" with a more robust 5-bolt cylinder head, revised transmission ratios, and a redesigned counterbalancer. The rear suspension was architecturally shifted to a low-mounted Full Floater linkage, and the steel frame received strategic reinforcements. Front suspension geometry was revised with lighter, round-tubing A-arms, and drive components were upgraded. The 1989 model (LT500RK) saw further chassis refinements, notably with white A-arms. The 1990 model (LT500RL) received fewer significant changes. These continuous improvements aimed at enhancing reliability and handling throughout its production run. Q: How do I ensure I select the correct parts for my Quadzilla?
A: Due to significant year-to-year changes, please use the year and edition selector on this page to find parts specific to your ATV.
