Vehicle Information
Yamaha Banshee 350 ATV (1987-2006)
The Yamaha Banshee 350, produced from 1987 to 2006, is a legendary two-stroke sport ATV renowned for its powerful 347cc twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Derived from the Yamaha RD350 motorcycle, this robust engine delivered approximately 34 horsepower through a 6-speed manual transmission. Unlike its motorcycle counterpart, the Banshee's engine did not feature the Yamaha Power Valve System (YPVS), a design choice that simplified the ATV and made it more adaptable for tuning. Throughout its long production run, the Banshee 350 maintained a remarkably consistent core design. While cosmetic updates like colors and graphics were frequent, significant mechanical changes were limited. A notable update occurred between 1990 and 1991, when the front suspension transitioned from a J-arm design (1987-1990) to a more robust A-arm setup (1991-2006), enhancing frame rigidity. Additionally, the taillight design evolved, with earlier models (1987-2001) featuring a smaller light without a dedicated brake light, which was updated to a larger taillight with an integrated brake light from 2002 to 2006. In its final U.S. production year (2006), Yamaha offered a 'Base' model and a 'Special Edition' (SE) which was primarily a cosmetic package with unique color schemes. FAQ:
