The healds and stabilizers offer a penetration of more than 1" deep in the snow. The height of the stabilizers is lower than the beams, so the stabilizers will not touch the paved path. It is only the carbide of the arm that will wear. The sharpening of self-sharpening heddles occurs when the steel of the heald wears on each side of the carbidelames forming the same principle as sharpening a lead pencil. Here is that the carbide being harder than the sides of the arm, the steel of the arm wears out a little faster in the gravel and on the asphalt it is the carbide which rubs the most therefore what produces a balanced sharpening during throughout the wear of the carbide. Also the wear of the arm being slowed down by a heat treatment to be more resistant to wear. Therefore, the arm always keeps its cut in new condition during the complete wear of the carbide, for more performance and grip on ice and snowmobile trails.

The Polaris Indy 800, produced from 2000 to 2020, is a performance snowmobile renowned for its power and versatility. Throughout this period, it primarily utilized a 2-stroke, twin-cylinder engine with a displacement of 794cc or 795cc. Initially, this engine produced around 130-140 horsepower. A major evolution occurred in 2008 with the introduction of the 795cc Liberty 800 H.O. CleanFire engine, delivering 154 horsepower thanks to a four-injector design, which remained standard thereafter. Several platforms and chassis marked the evolution of the Indy 800. The Vertical Edge platform appeared in 2004, followed by the IQ chassis in 2008, which integrated full-length tunnel cooling. In 2010, the Pro Ride rear suspension was introduced to enhance comfort. From 2016 onwards, many performance and mountain models transitioned to the AXYS® platform, bringing entirely redesigned front and rear suspension geometries for improved handling and ergonomics.
