It is consistently powered by a reliable 499cc, 2-stroke, liquid-cooled Suzuki twin engine, delivering 85 horsepower. This fuel-injected engine utilizes a reed valve configuration, ensuring consistent power delivery across its model years. While the core engine and chassis remained unchanged, the ZR 4000 saw notable trim-level updates. In 2015, the RR trim received significant enhancements, including a new TEAM Industries TSS-04 driven clutch, wider A-arms for improved stability (43.5-inch ski stance), a narrower 5-inch Trail 5 ski, and a redesigned left side panel vent to optimize clutch cooling.
