Perfection takes time. After years of research and development, we’ve made our dual idler gear portals unlike any other. By placing a second idler gear in the portal box, the load gets spread over twice as much surface area for more reliable torque transfer and the strongest gear set you can get. Two idler gears don’t do a thing if they’re not mated perfectly, though. Precision CNC grinding ensures ours do. Our gears are made from the industry’s toughest 9310 steel alloy. The Yamaha Wolverine 700, produced from 2016 to 2018, is a robust two-seater utility side-by-side (UTV) designed for off-road adventures and demanding tasks. All models in this range are powered by a consistent 708cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 4-valve, fuel-injected single-cylinder engine, paired with Yamaha's durable Ultramatic CVT transmission. This powertrain is engineered to deliver smooth, linear power and optimized torque across various terrains. Throughout the 2016-2018 production years, there were no significant mid-cycle generation or engine changes. The core platform remained consistent, with variations primarily found in trim levels.
