Vehicle Information
Kawasaki Ninja 250R Motorcycle - Street (1988-2012)
The Kawasaki Ninja 250R, an iconic entry-level sportbike, was produced from 1988 to 2012. Throughout its run, it featured a liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, primarily with a displacement of 248cc or 249cc. This model was renowned for its accessibility and sporty performance, making it a popular choice for new riders and those seeking a lightweight, agile motorcycle. The Ninja 250R saw two distinct generations within this period. The first generation (1988-2007, internal codes EX250-F/G/H) featured a 248cc engine, with horsepower generally ranging from 37 to 45 hp. This era included a significant update in 1988, which refined the engine's responsiveness with carburetor and compression ratio adjustments, alongside a more enclosed bodywork. The second generation (2008-2012, internal codes EX250-J/R) brought a major redesign. While retaining about 30% of the previous engine components, the 249cc engine was retuned for better midrange performance, though peak horsepower was slightly lower (around 30-33 hp). This redesign also introduced all-new bodywork, 17-inch wheels, improved suspension, and larger brake rotors, making it visually align with Kawasaki's larger sportbikes. Q: How can I ensure parts fit my Ninja 250R?
A: To guarantee compatibility, please use the year and model selector at the top of this page. Q: My Ninja 250R is an EX250-F/J/R model. Does that change anything?
A: Internal codes like EX250-F or EX250-J denote generational or regional variations. Use the year selector to find parts specific to your motorcycle.
