Vehicle Information
Harley-Davidson Tour Glide Motorcycle - Street (1980-1996)
The Harley-Davidson Tour Glide, produced from 1980 to 1996, was an iconic touring motorcycle that introduced an innovative chassis concept. It featured a rubber-mounted engine and a frame-mounted fairing, providing a more stable ride with reduced vibrations. This model spanned two major Harley-Davidson engine eras: the Shovelhead and the Evolution. Initially equipped with the 1340 cc (80 cubic inch) Shovelhead engine from 1980 to 1983, the Tour Glide underwent a significant transition in 1984 with the introduction of the Evolution engine. Although of the same displacement, the Evolution brought notable advancements with its aluminum cylinders and heads, improved oil control, and enhanced durability. Over the years, the Tour Glide was offered in several trims, including the original FLT, the FLTC Tour Glide Classic (from 1982) with its hard luggage, and the FLTCU Tour Glide Ultra Classic (late 1980s) offering premium touring equipment. Another major evolution was the shift from a chain final drive to a belt drive, introduced around 1983, improving cleanliness and reducing maintenance. FAQ:

| Engine Oil and Oil Filter | 1 600 km (initial break-in), then every 8 000 km or annually | The first change is crucial after break-in. Subsequently, the interval is 8 000 km or once a year, whichever comes first. Severe riding conditions may require more frequent changes. |

| Spark Plugs | Every 48 000 km or every two years | Replace spark plugs. Check condition and gap during intermediate services. |
| Air Filter | Every 8 000 km | Inspect and clean or replace as required. Harley-Davidson filters are often washable. |
| Coolant | Not applicable | Harley-Davidson Tour Glide models from this period are air-cooled and do not use liquid coolant. |
