The Harley-Davidson Fat Bob, a distinctive cruiser, has evolved significantly since its earliest appearance. While the "Fat Bob" designation dates back to 1979 with models like the FXE-F 1200 and FXEF 1340cc Shovelhead, the model as widely recognized today was formally introduced in 2008 as part of the Dyna series. The Fat Bob has undergone two major platform transformations. From 2008 to 2017, it was a key member of the Dyna family, characterized by its twin rear shocks and rubber-mounted Twin Cam engines (96, 103, and the CVO 110). In 2018, a significant redesign moved the Fat Bob to the Softail chassis, bringing a lighter, stiffer frame, a hidden monoshock, and the new Milwaukee-Eight engines (107 and 114). The Milwaukee-Eight 114 became the sole engine option from 2020, and electronic cruise control became standard in 2023.
