Vehicle Information
Yamaha FJ1100 Motorcycle - Street (1984-1985)
The Yamaha FJ1100, produced for the 1984 and 1985 model years, was a sport-touring motorcycle renowned for its balance of utility and sportiness. It featured a compact, slightly inclined DOHC, 16-valve, transverse four-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine. With a displacement of 1,097 cc, this powerplant delivered 125 hp, making it a formidable machine for its era.
Throughout its 1984-1985 production, the FJ1100 was offered as a single model, sometimes identified by the internal Yamaha code "36Y," without distinct trim levels. While the core design remained consistent, the 1985 model introduced minor refinements. These included a new shift drum to reduce clunky shifts, subtle carburetor adjustments for improved warm-up, reduced engine noise, and a different, less slick seat material. These were not major generational changes but rather incremental improvements.
