It is powered by a flat-six engine, initially 1832cc (2001-2017), then slightly increased to 1833cc from 2018. This model has undergone significant evolution, solidifying its reputation as a benchmark in its category. Two main generations stand out. The first (2001-2017) was offered as a base GL1800 model with various optional packages such as ABS, audio/comfort, navigation, and, from 2006, the world's first integrated airbag on a production motorcycle. Mid-cycle updates in 2006 and 2012 brought technological and aesthetic improvements.
