Vehicle Information
Buell Blast Motorcycle - Street (2000-2009)
The Buell Blast, produced from 2000 to 2009, was an entry-level motorcycle designed for new riders. It featured a 491.64 cc (or 492 cc) air-cooled, OHV, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine, derived from Harley-Davidson's Evolution Sportster engine by removing the rear cylinder. This engine was paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a low-maintenance, Kevlar-reinforced belt final drive. The Blast was known for its ease of operation, thanks to features like self-adjusting hydraulic valve lifters and a carburetor with an automatic choke. Throughout its production run from 2000 to 2009, the Buell Blast remained largely consistent. There were no significant mid-cycle generation or engine changes, and it was primarily offered as a single, standard model. Variations were limited to color options and optional accessories such as different seat heights. The bodywork, made from durable Surlyn plastic, was designed to withstand minor damage. FAQ:

Maintenance
| Component | Interval | Details |
| Engine Oil and Filter | Every 8,000 km | Replace annually or more frequently (every 4,000 to 5,500 km) if using conventional oil, aggressive riding, or hot conditions. |
| Drive Belt (Rear) | Inspect and adjust at 1,600 km, then every 8,000 km | Suggested service life of 24,000 km before replacement; pre-2004 belts were rated for 40,000 km. Inspect for cracks, missing teeth, glazing, or fraying. |
| Spark Plug | Every 16,000 km | Inspect every 13,000 km; replace standard copper plugs between 16,000 and 32,000 km. |
| Air Filter | Inspect and service as needed every 16,000 km | Replacement often warranted at this interval if clogged. More frequent inspection and cleaning or replacement may be necessary in dusty or polluted environments. |
| Coolant | Every 48,000 km | General advice: replace every few years, or at least once per season for high-performance use. |
