Vehicle Information
KTM 300 MX Dirt Bike (1986-1991)
The KTM 300 MX, produced from 1986 to 1991, is an iconic off-road motorcycle renowned for its motocross and enduro performance. Initially, the 1986 model featured a 273cc two-stroke engine, derived from a 250cc unit, and was available in trims such as the 300 MX, MXC, and GS. A notable hiatus in 300cc model production occurred from 1987 to 1989. The series was relaunched in 1990 with an entirely new 297cc two-stroke engine, considered the precursor to modern KTM 300s. This engine, with a 72mm bore and 73mm stroke, was praised for its smooth and linear power delivery. The 1990 models also benefited from a new twin-valve control exhaust power valve system, a more rigid chassis, and a lower seat height. In 1991, further updates were made to the power valve and cylinder porting to optimize the torque curve. The 1990 and 1991 versions included the 300 MX, MXC, EXC, and other enduro-specific trims.
