Honda Sportrax 250 ATV (2001-2008)
The Honda Sportrax 250, also known as the TRX250EX and later the TRX250X, was produced from 2001 through 2008. This popular sport ATV was powered by a consistent 229cc, air-cooled, OHV, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine, delivering approximately 17 horsepower. Its longitudinally mounted engine allowed for efficient power transfer. The most significant mid-cycle changes occurred in 2006. This update brought new bodywork inspired by the TRX450R, giving it a more aggressive, sporty appearance. A key innovation was the Honda SportClutch, a system allowing manual clutch actuation while preventing engine stalling, making it easier for beginners and more controlled for experienced riders. Suspension components were updated both front and rear, and lighting improved with a brighter 39W headlight and an LED tail-light. Ergonomics were enhanced with a new, leaner seat and handlebar design.
