BMW R100RS Motorcycle - Street (1976-1993)
The BMW R100RS, produced from 1976 to 1993, was a pioneering sport-touring motorcycle renowned for its distinctive full fairing and robust 980cc boxer engine, delivering 70 bhp. This model was the first mass-produced motorcycle to feature a frame-fixed full fairing as standard. Throughout its production, the R100RS saw several key updates. Production ceased in 1984 but resumed in 1986 due to demand. Early models (1976-1984) featured a dual swingarm, transitioning to a monolever design, and later incorporating the Paralever system from 1988. Braking systems evolved from ATE pivot calipers to Brembo units, and the rear drum brake was replaced by a disc from 1979. Wheels changed from wire-spoked to cast "snowflake" from late 1977. Engine and electrical updates included electronic ignition from 1980 and significant improvements in 1981. FAQ:
