The BMW R1200S, produced from 2006 to 2008, is a sport motorcycle that succeeded the R1100S. It was significantly lighter and 25 percent more powerful than its predecessor. Its engine is a 1,170cc (or 1,169cc) four-stroke, air/oil-cooled twin-cylinder boxer, delivering 122 hp (90 kW) at 8,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 112 Nm at 6,800 rpm. This engine was a modified version of the R1200GS unit, featuring enhancements for sporty performance, including redesigned cylinder heads, stronger connecting rods, new camshafts, and an increased compression ratio of 12.5:1.
There were no reported mid-cycle generation or significant engine changes for the BMW R1200S within the 2006 to 2008 model years.
