Vehicle Information
Can-Am DS650 ATV (2000-2007)
The Can-Am DS650, initially released under the Bombardier brand, is a powerful sport ATV produced from 2000 to 2007. It is powered by a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 653cc Rotax engine, producing approximately 44.5 to 45 horsepower and 57 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. This model was designed for performance and adventure. While the core 653cc Rotax engine remained consistent, significant evolutions occurred. The brand transitioned from Bombardier to Can-Am (under BRP) around 2006-2007. Initial 2000 models featured a smaller oil filter, oil bleeding issues, and chain roller and Kenda tires that were revised from 2002 onwards, as were the A-arms. A 'new generation' was introduced in 2004, making the ATV shorter, narrower, and approximately 9 kg lighter. This update included a lighter aluminum swingarm, new aluminum upper A-arms at the front, a lighter and brighter duroplastic headlamp, and stainless steel braided brake lines as standard equipment. Several trims were available, including the Standard model, the DS650 Baja (introduced in 2004 with rally-inspired enhancements), and the DS650 X (also from 2004, focused on racing with revised suspension).
