The Ducati 999, produced from 2003 to 2006 with special editions available through 2007, is a high-performance sport bike that succeeded the renowned 916, 996, and 998 superbikes. Offered in base 999, sportier 999S, and racing-oriented 999R trims, it was powered by 998 cc or 999 cc Testastretta engines. A significant mid-cycle update occurred in 2005. The base 999 model saw its horsepower increase from 124 hp to 140 hp, thanks to re-worked camshafts.
