Vehicle Information
Suzuki GS700 Motorcycle - Street (1985)
The 1985 Suzuki GS700 was a road motorcycle specifically designed for the North American market. It was introduced in response to US import tariffs on motorcycles 750cc and larger. Its 699 cc transverse inline four-cylinder DOHC engine, with 4 valves per cylinder, produced 80 hp (59.7 kW) at 9300 rpm and 63 Nm of torque at 8500 rpm. This model was available in two trims: the 'naked' GS700E and the GS700ES, which included a bikini fairing. The GS700 itself represents a significant adaptation of the GS750 model, with its engine destroked from 747 cc to 699 cc to circumvent tariffs. This engine modification for the model's introduction in 1985 constitutes a significant change. There were no further major generation or engine changes within the short production run of the GS700 itself. Frequently Asked Questions:
