Ski-Doo MXZ 600 Snowmobile (1999-2026)
The Ski-Doo MXZ 600 series, produced from 1999 to 2026, is an iconic performance snowmobile, renowned for its agility and power. Primarily powered by Rotax 600cc two-stroke engines, it has continuously evolved to offer an enhanced trail riding experience. Over the years, the MXZ 600 has seen major advancements in chassis and engine technology. The ZX chassis marked its debut in 1999, followed by the revolutionary REV in 2004, which repositioned the rider for improved ergonomics. The REV-XP (2008) brought increased lightness, then the REV-XS (2013) refined styling and protection. Engines also progressed, from carbureted versions to 600 HO, 600 SDI, and the significant introduction of the 600 H.O. E-TEC in 2009, the industry's first direct injection. The 600R E-TEC (125 hp) appeared in 2018 with the REV Gen4 platform, and the 600 EFI (85 hp) in 2021. NEO/NEO+ models (40-55 hp) were introduced in 2025 for new riders, while the REV Gen5 became more widespread for 600cc models in 2026, offering improved rigidity and alignment. Maintenance
| Component | Interval | Details |
| Break-in Inspection | After the first 10 hours or 500 km | Recommended by an authorized Ski-Doo dealer. |
| General Maintenance | Every 6,000 km or every 2 years | Includes inspections and replacements, whichever comes first. |
| Injection Oil Filter (2-stroke engines) | Check oil reservoir before every ride | 2-stroke engines do not have a traditional engine oil filter. An injection oil filter may need replacement. The oil reservoir level should be checked before every ride. |
| Drive Belt | Check before every ride; lifespan of 2,400 to 4,800 km or every 50 hours | Inspect integrity and tension. Replace if signs of separation, glazing, edge cord damage, or excessive wear are present. Adjust deflection between 27 mm and 37 mm. |
| Spark Plug | Inspect regularly and replace as needed | Inspect as part of regular maintenance. Replace if signs of misfires, rough idling, or loss of power are present, especially in 2-stroke engines. |
| Air Filter | Every 11,200 km or as needed | Clean with compressed air or replace. The airbox/filter assembly should be inspected. Many snowmobiles do not use a traditional automotive-style air filter. |
| Coolant | Check before every ride; replace every 2 to 5 years | Check level when cold before every ride. Use a 50% distilled water and 50% antifreeze solution. Exact interval varies, consult owner's manual. |
