The 1983 Honda Silver Wing 650 (GL650) is a touring motorcycle, offered in two primary trims: the standard GL650 Silver Wing and the full-dress touring GL650 Silver Wing Interstate. It was powered by a 673cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, longitudinal 80-degree V-twin engine, producing 60-65 hp and 62 Nm of torque. The Interstate model, featuring a full fairing and luggage system, was exclusive to the 1983 model year.
The 1983 model represented a significant generational leap, superseding the GL500. This involved a substantial increase in engine displacement from 497cc to 673cc, achieved by increasing both bore and stroke. Key upgrades included strengthened engine components, new 35mm Keihin CV carburetors, an electric cooling fan, a more robust clutch, and dual front disc brakes. The compression ratio was slightly lowered, and gear ratios were adjusted for improved highway cruising.
