Why Buy a Clutch Kit?

A stock clutch is designed to work just good enough to get you through tame terrain. Throw on bigger tires, added weight or a change in elevation and you'll see a noticeable decrease in performance. Dalton Industries spent countless hours on the Dyno fine-tuning their clutch kit to provide a product that will address all of these conditions allowing optimal performance from your ride!

  • Dyno and field tested to ensure quality and customer satisfaction
  • Optimal performance with any tire models
  • Reduces belt slippage and clutch heat
  • Enhances throttle response
  • Prevents power loss when running larger tires
  • Improves low to mid-range engagement

2015 (only) Polaris RZR 900 Trail models with standard (non-EBS) clutches.

Note: This is for the two seat regular version only, we have not tested or offer a kit for the 4 seat version of this vehicle.

The standard clutch version (non ebs) of the 900 RZR / RZR S is quite well calibrated from the factory for stock tires and trails.Testing of the vehicle showed that for most typical trail / mixed use of the vehicle with stock (and most 26- 27") tires, the stock clutch calibration was fine and no clutch kit is necessary. For many, that means, save your money. This kit is for re-calibration foruse in sand dunes, or with oversized tires 28+.

This kit can also be used to help with power losses from higher elevations that are typically above 4000 ft.

This is an adjustable kit that can be set up for different tires and situations. For 27" heavy mud type ( that measure a full 27" tall and are heavy versions) and all 28"+ sizes, this kit is used. The instruction manual has a "set up guide" that shows how to set up the kit for your application.

Additional Notes:
For 2015 Polaris has replaced the 800 RZR models with a new RZR. This is a new chassis and a new 900 engine version. These new 900 RZR models can come in different forms. Some models have standard (non EBS) clutches, and some have EBS (Engine Braking System) clutches.

For 2015, most of the 50" or XC that have LE, or EPS (power steering) distinction have EBS clutches, and the 2015 base models, and RZR S do not, but be sure to check your application as the clutches on the vehicle are different.

We have built a new custom adjustable flyweight for this application and there are kits for both standard, and EBS clutch systems.

For 2015 (only) RZR 900 Trail LE, XC with EBS (engine brake clutch model only*)

Note: two seat version only

The 2015 EBS versions have different clutches on them. Engine braking is very valuable for some riders, and not necessary for others. It can be rider preference. The EBS versions were not calibrated as well from the factory, and clutching performance can be improved upon for stock or oversized tires. There are also adjustments to help with power losses from higher elevations. Accurate clutch calibration is important to belt life, performance, and backshifting in load conditions.

The clutch kit for this model not only has the adjustable flyweights and springs, but it also has a new helix included. It is actually 2 helixes !. The solid billet helix has 2 different sets of ramp curves machined in it. The helix ramp used for your application depends on tires size and application. Everything is in the instruction manual in the "set up guide". It shows you how to set it for your tires and application....as well as how to change it if you change the tires, etc in the future.

*There are some model variations for EBS application. If you are unsure if your 900 RZR version has EBS clutches, your Polaris dealer can run your serial number to confirm.

Adjustable clutch kit for the 2016-2020 Polaris 900cc RZR models, For 26-27"" tires (2 seat version*)

One clutch kit that can be set up for different terrain and conditions means accurate clutch tuning for your situation. Improved acceleration, back shifting, and belt performance. This kit is for the described tire sizes, but can be used with 28” and larger tires by adding the optional secondary spring DPSS-B/RT (Black red w/tang). The instructions include set ups for that optional spring and tire sizes, etc.

Sometimes RZR owners use more than one set of tires, or use the vehicle for very different applications or terrain types. This kit includes Dalton’s patented “Quick Adjust” flyweight system that allows you to add or subtract some of the weight from the flyweights, without even removing the flyweights from the drive clutch.

Instruction manual includes “set up instructions” for different tires and applications.

*What about the 4 seat version ?

This kit was designed, tested and developed on a two seat version of this vehicle. CVT clutch calibration is “controlling rate of shift of the belt” in many situations. It is related to HP, weight of the vehicle, terrain application, tires, etc. The correct clutch calibration is always vehicle and application specific. In some instances of other side by side vehicles we can use the same or similar kits in both vehicle versions with different instructions. In others, it requires a kit with some different components. Although these parts will physically “fit” the clutches, we have not tested a four seat version of this vehicle and thus it may be irrelevant and we cannot comment or make recommendations for that application.

This kit is similar to the stock tire kit for this vehicle, but contains a different secondary clutch spring more suited to the application. The kits for this vehicle contain the same adjustable flyweight lever arms and most components.

This kit is for the described tire sizes, but can be used with smaller (26-27”) tires by adding the optional secondary spring DPSS-B/BL-T (Black/Blue w/tang). You can convert one kit to the other by the use of the optional secondary spring. The instructions include set ups for that optional spring and tire sizes, etc.
