Gen 3 Portals Are Geared for All
Customize your ride and get the most out of your Honda Pioneer 500/520 with a GDP Portal Gear Lift from SuperATV! It gives you 4” of lift and helps you take back your torque, so no matter where you ride, you’ll be unstoppable. And because we know that no two riders are alike, we give you options! You get to pick your gear reduction (15% or 30%) and housing material (cast or billet aluminum). Whichever style you choose, you’ll soon realize there’s no trail too intimidating when you’re rolling on GDP.
GDP—the Most Trusted Name in Portals
Just because there are options doesn’t mean one is better than the other. With GDP, you truly can’t go wrong. We’ve been doing this for a long time and we’ve got UTV portals down to a science. The countless ride hours under our belt and thousands of happy GDP customers on the trails prove that we’re the best in the business.
Perfect for Mud
If you thought mudding was fun, just wait until you try it on portals. A GDP portal gear lift gives you your torque back so you can chew through the thickest peanut butter with ease. And the 4” lift lets you run larger tires and keeps you from getting swamped.
A Gear Reduction That Protects Your Drivetrain
With portal lifts, the gear reduction is placed in the hub instead of in the transmission. This means your drivetrain doesn’t have to work as hard, so those important components will last longer. Of all the benefits of a portal gear lift, reduced stress on your axles, differential, prop shaft, and transmission is definitely at the top of the list.
Unmatched Gear Material
At the heart of GDP portals are the gears. We make ours from precision-ground 9310 alloy steel to ensure perfect mating every time. That means no matter how hard you ride, you’ll experience smooth and quiet operation every time. Our premium, top-of-the-line gears are just another reason riders go with Gear Driven Performance.
Stronger Housings by Design
We’ve spent years studying, manufacturing, and testing portal housings. So we know what it takes to make or break these boxes. Whether you choose cast or USA-made 6061 billet aluminum with a CNC-machine finish, you’re getting kickass, high-quality housings that deliver unbeatable strength.
- Our housings are reinforced in all the right places
- They’re built with better oil flow and gearing forces in mind
- There are no gimmicks and no vents because vents do more harm than good—we know because we tested them
The Strongest Portal Backing Plates You Can Get
Imagine the strongest portal backing plates you can think of, and then make them even better. That’s what you get with GDP. Our backing plates are 5/16” thick and made from an advanced steel alloy. With even more strength than chromoly, we promise they can handle whatever the trails throw their way.
Advanced Gaskets and Seals
- Whether you go with cast or billet, both housings use:
- Advanced Thermo-Tork® gaskets with excellent oil resistance and a lower deterioration rate than Kevlar gaskets
- A sealed input gear and double-lipped output seal
- 100% sealing coverage throughout so you can forget about oil leaks
Bearings That Rock
We use bearings that are designed to keep your portal lift running smoothly no matter what. The idler gear is held in place by ultra-strong roller bearings, which absorb all that internal pressure. And for the output bearing, we use a double-angular contact bearing that’s able to withstand huge loads in any direction without showing premature wear.
Universal Hubs and Slotted Rotors
GDP portals use precision-ground stainless steel slotted rotors that run cool and deliver the braking power you need, right when you need it. They come with 4/156, 4/137, 4/115, and 4/110 bolt patterns and lugs. That means you can run just about any UTV wheel possible. We also invented the tapered output shaft that our hubs attach to. It adds a more secure lock that won’t wobble or wear down as time goes on.
Honda Pioneer 500/520 Portal Gear Reduction Recommendations
Max Tire Size | Required Suspension Setup with 4" Portals | Recommended 4" Portal Gear Reduction |
Up to 25" | Stock | 15% |
Gear reductions listed are general guidelines to maintain factory top speed. Installing a larger than recommended gear reduction will result in extra torque and lower top speed. |
